Every area of Boise has great things to offer and West Boise is no exception. It is an energetic, central section of the city with a balanced mix of retail businesses, commercial services, industry, medical facilities and neighborhoods. The largest mall in Idaho, Boise Towne Square, is located here so there is an abundance of shopping options nearby including strip malls and Boise Towne Plaza, hosting Idaho's first Nordstrom Rack. The mall is also surrounded by restaurants, entertainment and hotels.
When it's time for fresh air and exercise there are several lovely parks to enjoy with amenities such as playgrounds, walking paths, picnic areas and sports fields. In addition, Fairmont Park also has a municipal pool, Mountain View Park offers basketball courts and Winstead Park has a covered shelter.
West Boise neighborhoods are diverse and range from older neighborhoods with Mid-Century gems to newer subdivisions as well as apartments and condos. Some of the popular subdivisions in West Boise include Bayhill Springs with spacious homes and walking paths; Mortons Subdivision in the desirable West Bench area; and Grandee Subdivision where families can feel at home with schools nearby and Winstead Park to explore. For some, it's all about the view and the homes on Mountain View Drive on the Rim have panoramic views of the city, foothills and the beautiful Boise Mountains.
Boise Towne Square ~ With more than 180 stores and many casual dining choices, Boise Towne Square attracts shoppers from all over the Treasure Valley and Southern Idaho. In fact, license plates from Oregon and Nevada are also spotted in the parking lot! But with over 5,000 parking spaces, there is ample and convenient parking for all. Located at 350 North Milwaukee, the I-84 Connector makes the mall and surrounding shopping areas highly accessible. There are five anchor department stores--Macy's, Dillard's, JC Penney, Sears and Kohl's. Other favorites are Apple, Banana Republic, J.Crew, Williams-Sonoma, The Children's Place, Coldwater Creek and Buckle. But even the most avid shopper needs to refuel, so when hunger strikes check out one of the many nearby restaurants, such as the The Cheesecake Factory, Cafe Ole, Olive Garden or another one of the many options.
If you are a Boisean who loves tennis, you can play all year round thanks to the 23 tennis courts (11 outdoor and 12 indoor) at BRSC located at 116 N Cole Road. This premier tennis club also has certified teaching pros to help you with your serve or backhand. Choose what's best for your private lessons, clinics, camps or block times for adults and children. Besides tennis, there is a Weight & Cardio Training Facility so there's no excuse not to stay in shape! When summer arrives the outdoor pool is open and has competitive and non-competitive swim teams.
It's no wonder this is a favorite neighborhood park of local residents! Winstead Park is 11.3 acres just waiting to be used by sports teams and outdoor enthusiasts. It is located on Northview St near Curtis Road. Park amenities include open grassy areas for recreational activities and sports, a playground surfaced with wood chips, a walking path and a covered shelter. The 2 soccer fields are scheduled and reserved by local soccer organizations but are often available for drop-in use during the weekdays and early evenings, so meet your friends here for a game- first come, first served. There are 4 tennis courts which may be reserved but one is kept open to the public at all times. If you love to walk, a paved pathway circles the park and Winstead is one of the 16 city parks featured in the Walk 150 project. When it's time to relax and enjoy a gathering of family and friends, reserve the covered shelter for your event!
